I started off as a QA but was also given development tasks which really helped me boost my programming and web development skills. I learned more about RESTful APIs and worked closely with .NET Web APIs. I stayed with them for two consecutive semesters and in my second one, I learned performance testing using Jmeter. There arose a requirement for a Java resource and I was given the responsibility to do the POC. The best thing was that they were patient with me and gave me more and more tasks and I thrived on them.
They had great cultural events of different cultures. That included Indian, Asian and African American cultures. I participated in an Indian festival's event called Diwali and was in the team Dance performance. It was awesome to have fun in this way away from the usual work responsibilities and the computers.
My Manager was very helpful, patient and supportive. He really guided me well and now when I look back, I can feel proud of the tasks I completed and skills I learned.
